MUMBAI: Shiv Sena activists today attacked the offices of IBN-Lokmat news channel at suburban Vikroli and Pune, protesting news broadcast against the Party in the channel.
IBN-Lokmat Channel Editor Nikhil Wagle said Sainiks barged into their office at Vikroli this afternoon and started ransacking and assaulting the staff.
Within a few minutes, the Party activists also attacked their office in Pune, he claimed.
The agitators were shouting slogans ''Shiv Sena chay virudhat jo koni Kahi lihal kiva dakhawal te sahan karnar nahi'' (We will not tolerate any writing or broadcasting against Shiv Sena), Mr Wagle said.
He alleged that the Sainiks attacked him with a chair, but, escaped unhurt as one of the staff saved him. The activists also manhandled some female staff, he alleged, adding that some of the employees had suffered head injuries.
Police have arrested seven people in this connection so far.

The channel is headed by Nikhil Wagle, a veteran Marathi journalist and former editor of Marathi daily Apla Mahanagar. IBN Lokmat is generally the second most watched Marathi channel.
